AvA, the AI assistant platform for everyone
AvA is where PathOr’s AI work is pointed. It is a conversational assistant you can talk to, and a platform you can build on — the same engine serves someone asking a question on their phone and a business automating a support queue that never closes.
Real-time voice
Speak to AvA and get an answer back in the same breath, not after a spinner.
Android app
A native assistant on the device people actually carry.
Plugins and API
Extend AvA with your own tools, or drive it from your own product.
Enterprise deployment
Custom personas and support workflows for businesses.
What AvA does
AvA handles conversation as the primary interface. Rather than making someone learn a menu, it lets them ask for what they want in their own words — by voice or by text — and does the work behind it.
For an individual that means a general-purpose assistant: questions answered, drafts written, tasks organised, all through talking rather than tapping. For a business it means a support agent that is awake at three in the morning, answers in the company’s own voice, and hands off to a person when it should.
The same platform underpins both. There is no separate consumer product and enterprise product with different capabilities — there is one assistant, configured differently.
Building on AvA
AvA exposes plugin and API access so it can be extended rather than merely used. A plugin gives the assistant a new capability — reading from your database, filing a ticket, checking stock. The API lets you drive AvA from inside your own application, so the assistant appears where your users already are instead of on a separate site.
This is the part that matters for teams evaluating AvA against a generic chatbot. A chatbot answers from a script. An assistant with tool access can actually do the thing being asked for.
Where AvA came from
AvA is the successor to Sam, PathOr’s earlier digital assistant for Windows and Android and the product that first drew the company a large audience. Sam proved the appetite for a genuinely conversational assistant; it was deprecated and its capabilities folded into AvA, which is now the active platform.
That lineage is why AvA leads with voice. It was built by a team that had already shipped a voice assistant and learned where the hard parts are.
Common questions
Who is AvA for?
+
Both individuals and businesses. Individuals use the Android app as a general-purpose voice assistant. Businesses use the platform to automate customer support and build custom assistants on top of the plugin and API layer.
Can I build my own assistant on AvA?
+
Yes. AvA offers plugin and API access, so you can give the assistant new capabilities and drive it from inside your own product rather than sending users to a separate interface.
Does AvA support voice?
+
Yes, real-time voice is the platform’s primary interface, alongside text. AvA is the successor to Sam, PathOr’s earlier voice assistant, so voice was the starting point rather than an addition.
Is there an AvA mobile app?
+
Yes, AvA is available as an Android application. The web platform and the API are available alongside it.
